Yesterday Tim Martins strike rate dropped to 1 winner in every 4.3 starters when NZ Derby nominated Victime de L'amour produced what the stable knew he was always capable of doing and won easily over 1550m at Hawkesbury.

Victime de L’amour (Blake Spriggs) also jumped from an outside barrier to take the lead and then pulled away from the field, putting 4 lengths on his rivals, to complete the running double for Martin (The Hipster winning the race prior). Spriggs was delighted with the way the horse went and said the further we would have gone the further he would have won by.

This was a step up in distance for the Al Maher gelding and he handled it, and the weight of 59kg, with ease. “He is a big, strong, good looking animal with plenty of scope and I have no doubt he will compete over longer distances”, I am very pleased for the ownersMr J Webb, Mr M D Keating, Mrs S J Keating, Mr M S Haidar, Mr C E Grah and Mr B Hogden, who also have a great relationship with Blake Spriggs" said Martin

Over the past 6 months Tim Martin Racing has become one of the most in-form stables in the country, elevating Martin’s win strike rate to a very impressive 1 in every 4.3 runners. Martin went on to put this down to the team around him. “The guys in the stables have really taken ownership of the horses and treat them like their own. My track work riders Yusuke Ichikawa, Claire Nutman and Matt Vella have done a great job and we have a good management structure that allows me to really focus on getting the best out of the individual horses, train them accordingly and produce winners.” said Martin

Victime de L'amour is by Al Maher out of She's Lovely and he has had 4 starts for 1 win and 2 seconds and has earned $34,135 in prize money.
